-50 to -80 mmHg on intermittent suction/cyclic. Reduced pressure setting (-20 mmHg) allow tissue recovery
The PREVENT removes the sponge from the wound surface. Without the sponge, there is no tissue and growth. There is no wound saturation and bacterial overgrowth. The wound can be visualized through the dressing. There’s now no odor during dressing changes.
Yes, the PREVENT Kit was FDA cleared in February 2024. The PREVENT wound contact layer is a Class 1 product and is registered with the FDA.
The PREVENT can be used on acute and chronic wounds. The PREVENT is designed to handle high exudate as well as well as low exudate wounds. Any wound a traditional NPWT dressing would be used on, the PREVENT also can be used.
The PREVENT is ideal for acute open wounds. High exudate wounds can easily be managed due to the proprietary design and open flow pathways. Additionally, tissue ingrowth will NOT occur with the use of the PREVENT.
The PREVENT is ideal for chronic wounds as well. Removing the sponge prevents wound bacterial colonization. The PREVENT does not allow ingrowth and prevents removal of healthy tissue during the wound healing process. There are no sponge particles retained after dressing removal using the PREVENT.
The PREVENT is made out of a proprietary clear thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). It is bioinert similar to silicone and will not cause any reaction when in contact with the wound.
The PREVENT has been designed to be very soft. The PREVENT conforms to match the wound surface. The wound filler is not needed with most wounds. While stacking is not detrimental and should not prevent flow, stacking should not be needed.
The PREVENT comes in three sizes, small, medium, and large. These sizes mirror the standard sizes for traditional NPWT dressings.
The PREVENT is made out of a soft material that is easily cut to the shape of the wound. Application of the PREVENT is far easier and faster than the typical sponge dressing.
The thermoplastic elastomer used to construct the PREVENT is both elastic and strong. Cut edges should not be left behind in the wound bed after dressing removal.
The PREVENT has a proprietary design that allows for flow in all directions. The PREVENT resists collapse or compression when placed even up to -125 mmHg of negative pressure. Due to improved flow characteristics and design, the PREVENT can be used in lower settings (-50 to -80 mmHg) and with intermittent/cyclic suction allowing for improved wound healing.
The PREVENT does not dry out tissue underneath the dressing causing tissue desiccation. No additional barriers should be needed to protect tissue underneath the PREVENT.
Currently the PREVENT Kit and wound contact layer are the only products manufactured by CCT. There are several new products currently in different stages of development. Check back soon for new products.
Yes, the PREVENT has its own vacuum specific to the PREVENT. There’s a standard and mini pump. Additional pumps are in the process of being added.
Yes, the PREVENT can be used as a standalone contact layer to prevent tissue and growth or under a traditional sponge based NPWT dressing. The PREVENT can eliminate sponge wound contact and limit tissue ingrowth. Traditional -125 mmHg likely should be used in this use based on provider desires.
